The Lady Bulldogs are now 10-1. The beat Franklin Co. last night in a very hard fought battle. I have to admit that there were times that I wondered if we would come out victorious. We did and Coach was extremely happy. I was told later that he grabbed Priss and threw her into the air at the conclusion of the game. She thought it was great and couldn't wait to tell everyone about it. I wish someone would have caught it on film just to see it happening.
Next up: Ripley Co. Jan. 5th
Coach is hoping to win it this year! Wish him luck!
10-1

7 Blissful Years
Jason and I are celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary today and if you ask the kids what we are doing they will tell you that we have a hot date. Any date we go on is a hot date to them since we usually just do most things as a family. Jason's mom came to keep the kiddos for us.
Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!

Priss Got a New Bed
Priss has been sleeping in a toddler bed since April of 2006. She has steadily been out growing it and finally we decided to put her in a twin sized bed. Last night was a success in that she never left her bed and slept soundly all night. Before bed she had to model her new bed for everyone.
Hopefully many more great nights of sleep are in her future, and ours too since she is notorious for waking up others when she can't sleep.

A Full Week's Worth of Christmas Celebrating
We started our Christmas celebration at Jason's grandparents' in Lafayette on the 20th. The kids had a wonderful time opening presents, seeing Santa deliver some presents for them and their cousin, playing with their cousin and eating some great food. Following all the celebrating at Jason's grandparents' it was off to his parents' to celebrate with them and his brother. On the way there Priss complained about her tummy hurting but we just attributed it to not using the bathroom. We arrived at his parents and were waiting for his brother and grandparents to arrive when Swee climbed into my lap, snuggled in and then proceeded to get sick all over me. Stomach flu on Christmas. Not long after Swee got sick Priss was getting sick too. I had just thought no one has been sick on Christmas for a really long time. Jinks! The kids were troopers and did their best to open some of their presents from Uncle B. Priss actually opened a present and then got sick all over everything. Swee took a nap and woke up at about 10 p.m. ready to finish opening his presents. It was a rough night but not as bad as it could have been had the kids not received priesthood blessings from Jason. By the morning they were feeling better. Priss woke up and was ready to play. After letting the kids play some we packed up the car and headed home for a few days.
On Monday night I woke up with the dreaded stomach flu. I have sworn off the food I ate that day for a very long time. Jason continues to taunt me with it and it's smell as he eats it.
We celebrated Christmas eve by making cookies for Santa and getting to bed early. The kids had opened their one Christmas eve present which has always been matching pjs. This might be the last year since Priss has outgrown the little kids section of the store. Later we found out that my niece and nephews had the same pjs. The kids had both written letters to Santa and left them next to their plate of cookies for Santa.
Christmas morning was very exciting. Both kids got exactly what they asked for..Swee got a train, Priss got a Madame Alexander doll and a Snow White dress up outfit. Now it was off to my mother's for Christmas dinner and opening presents with the cousins. The kids loved all their gifts but really enjoyed their time with their cousins and aunts and uncles.
The day following Christmas we went to my Dad's to celebrate with him and my aunts and uncles on his side. Dad had had each kids' name sculpted from metal and it was so cool. We really enjoyed getting to visit with my Aunt Donna, Uncle Phil, Uncle Rog and Aunt Joyce. There was alot of laughter and old stories told. The kids loved getting to look at pictures of their parents and aunts when their were a lot younger, since Grandpa David had set up lots of them around his house.
We finally arrived home on the 27th after celebrating Christmas for almost a week solid. I am so thankful that all of our families were able to be together this Christmas, next Christmas will be different for sure since so many are moving away...Jason's parents -NC, his brother - Cali, & Bon and her family - Washington state. I have realized that Christmas truly is when all your family can be together at one time to celebrate our Savior and being a family.

My Kid is Stronger Than Yours
Today was a typical Saturday at the Slopsema house. Jason is gone reffing youth league basketball games while the kids and I are doing things around the house/running errands/cleaning, all the fun stuff! Since I noticed that we were low on milk, flour and sugar I knew it was off to the worst store to visit on a Saturday morning - WALMART! I quickly checked the ads and found milk, oj and a couple other items that we could use on sale for $1. At Walmart I always start at the back of the store and work my way forward, today wasn't any different. As I was getting the 2% milk out of the cooler I heard a loud crash. I looked over at Swee who was in the basket portion of the cart and noticed that he was standing and holding onto the cooler door handle where the whole milk is kept. The loud crash I heard was none other than my 2 1/2 year old pulling the grocery cart into the cooler glass...He SHATTERED the entire cooler glass door! Completely shattered it! Very quickly he realized that he was probably in trouble and should obey whatever Mom told him to do. He was rapidly transferred to the front of the cart and informed not to touch anything. A manager was found, circumstance explained, apology issued and then off to complete my shopping since if you recall milk had been my first stop.
Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing else was destroyed on our enjoyable trip to Walmart this morning! A sense of humor should never be left at home - the moral of the day.

Sneaky I Swear
He some how had managed to get into the qtips that were hidden and climbed underneath the kitchen table with them in his ears. He also took this grilled cheese sandwich down there. Some days I just throw my hands up where he his concerned.

The Best Season Continues
The Batesville ladies basketball program continues to have the best season since 2003. They beat the S. Decatur Cougars on Saturday by at least a 10 point margin. I have to say that they seemed to just be going through the motions. I really hope that they pick up the intensity by this Thursday when they face a conference team that always provides a very competitive match up.

Ward Christmas Party
The ward Christmas party went off without a lot of problems. Priss enjoyed singing with the other Primary children. As they began to sing the batteries in my camera decided that they were dead! I only was able to snap one picture before they gave up.

Best Start Since 2003
The Batesville Girls' basketball program is off to the best start since 2003. They are playing well but as Coach says,"there are still areas that they need to improve in before they meet up with the last three teams they play before Christmas vacation. This Saturday they face off against another Decatur Co. team and hopefully escape with another win...making them 8-0.
The kids have been enjoying all the wins and getting to go to the locker room with Jason following the games. I was informed that last night Swee lead the team in their post game cheer...an accomplishment for Swee who has been struggling with leaving my sight lately even if it is just with Jason.
