We started our Christmas celebration at Jason's grandparents' in Lafayette on the 20th. The kids had a wonderful time opening presents, seeing Santa deliver some presents for them and their cousin, playing with their cousin and eating some great food. Following all the celebrating at Jason's grandparents' it was off to his parents' to celebrate with them and his brother. On the way there Priss complained about her tummy hurting but we just attributed it to not using the bathroom. We arrived at his parents and were waiting for his brother and grandparents to arrive when Swee climbed into my lap, snuggled in and then proceeded to get sick all over me. Stomach flu on Christmas. Not long after Swee got sick Priss was getting sick too. I had just thought no one has been sick on Christmas for a really long time. Jinks! The kids were troopers and did their best to open some of their presents from Uncle B. Priss actually opened a present and then got sick all over everything. Swee took a nap and woke up at about 10 p.m. ready to finish opening his presents. It was a rough night but not as bad as it could have been had the kids not received priesthood blessings from Jason. By the morning they were feeling better. Priss woke up and was ready to play. After letting the kids play some we packed up the car and headed home for a few days.
On Monday night I woke up with the dreaded stomach flu. I have sworn off the food I ate that day for a very long time. Jason continues to taunt me with it and it's smell as he eats it.
We celebrated Christmas eve by making cookies for Santa and getting to bed early. The kids had opened their one Christmas eve present which has always been matching pjs. This might be the last year since Priss has outgrown the little kids section of the store. Later we found out that my niece and nephews had the same pjs. The kids had both written letters to Santa and left them next to their plate of cookies for Santa.
Christmas morning was very exciting. Both kids got exactly what they asked for..Swee got a train, Priss got a Madame Alexander doll and a Snow White dress up outfit. Now it was off to my mother's for Christmas dinner and opening presents with the cousins. The kids loved all their gifts but really enjoyed their time with their cousins and aunts and uncles.
The day following Christmas we went to my Dad's to celebrate with him and my aunts and uncles on his side. Dad had had each kids' name sculpted from metal and it was so cool. We really enjoyed getting to visit with my Aunt Donna, Uncle Phil, Uncle Rog and Aunt Joyce. There was alot of laughter and old stories told. The kids loved getting to look at pictures of their parents and aunts when their were a lot younger, since Grandpa David had set up lots of them around his house.
We finally arrived home on the 27th after celebrating Christmas for almost a week solid. I am so thankful that all of our families were able to be together this Christmas, next Christmas will be different for sure since so many are moving away...Jason's parents -NC, his brother - Cali, & Bon and her family - Washington state. I have realized that Christmas truly is when all your family can be together at one time to celebrate our Savior and being a family.
