Getting Too Big

This morning before church Jason asked Swee if he would like a new bed. He answered yes and Jason promised him a new bed today. After his nap and a quick snack it was time to assemble his new bed.

When we were pregnant with Swee we purchased a crib from a family friend. When we went to assemble it all the hardware was missing and couldn't be found. We never received it so we used Priss's old crib. The crib we purchased would work as a toddler bed where Priss's wouldn't.

We decided to assemble the toddler bed and Swee was elated to be getting a big boy bed like sis. They both helped with the assemble process and it was finally ready for him to try it out.

He wanted Priss to try it out with him.

When it was time for bed he jumped into bed as soon as he and I finished reading his bedtime story. He laid down, gave me a smooch, told me he loved me and then as I was walking out the door he said, "Mommy, I love my new bed!" Now if he will just stay in it. He did say he wanted me to get him out of bed in the morning not sis. We will keep our fingers crossed that he continues to be a great sleeper through the night and at nap time.

As of the time of this post and me going to bed we haven't heard or seen anything of Swee! Yeah!

Soccer Season Begins

This past weekend (Saturday morning) Priss began her soccer career. She loved getting dressed in her uniform and couldn't wait to take the field. Jason and I loved cheering for her and she loved chasing the ball all over the field. She played 3 of the 4 quarters. When the game was over she stated that she thought she shouldn't have to go to practice anyone since she knew how to play the game. Jason reminded her that his basketball players have to attend practice everyday even though they know how to play. She thought that she might be able to willingly attend a few more practices.

Here she is ready for her first practice. Swee had to wear his cleats also. I think he is going to be wanting to play once he's old enough too.

Soccer Season...

More to come in the next couple of days. Let's just say she loves it!

Oldest Nephew is Now Older

Yesterday we celebrated my oldest nephew's 6th birthday. I still remember waiting for the phone call that he had arrived. Since I was pregnant with Priss at the same time my sister was pregnant with him I was unable to travel to Utah to be there for his birth.

This birthday party was a bittersweet one. With them moving to Washington state in a couple of months this was the last birthday party for him that we will be present for.

Happy Birthday Coop! We love you!

Field Trip

I had the wonderful chance to go on Priss's field trip to the Children's Museum last week. Grandma Pat came to stay with Swee so that I could go. Thanks Grandma Pat!

I hadn't been on a field trip since I quit teaching in January 2004. We had fun!

He Came Here TOO

Yes, the Easter Bunny even came to our house while we were gone. And the kids were even still excited about him coming. Before we left for Lafayette the kids had set out their Easter baskets, the Easter Bunny brings the kids baskets with their names on them for their first Easter, so that maybe a treat or two would be left. Each of the kids got soccer balls and movies (The Bee Movie & Madagascar).

Yet another holiday is already over this year! I swear my parents were right when they said time flies as you get older!

Ready, Set, Hunt

The highlight, second to their Easter baskets, of the day was the thrill of the hunt...eggs that is. After church and before dinner the kids hunted for Easter eggs hidden by Grandpa Ed. Since the yard was wet the eggs were hidden in the house (no bedrooms or bathrooms), on the front deck and the back deck. As soon as the kids were told they could go they went separate directions. Swee went to the front deck and Priss went to the back deck. At the conclusion of the hunt all the eggs had been found, only one was broken and both kids were happy with the number they found (Priss 25, Swee 23).

I remember how fun the Easter egg hunt was at my Grandparents' house and am so glad that the kids get to continue that tradition.

Easter Morning

Sunday morning came early but not extremely early for us (7:30 a.m.). I heard Swee talking but he wasn't upset so I just laid in bed a little longer. When I heard someone go in and get him up I realized that I needed to get up or else I would be missing out on all the Easter basket pictures. I grab the camera and head into the kitchen at Jason's parents house to find my children, just my children going through their baskets. I had heard Priss go in and get Swee up. At this point I am glad that I decided to get up. The kids were so excited with what the Easter bunny left at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Since church wasn't until 11 they had plenty of time to sort through their baskets and select the perfect piece of candy to enjoy along with breakfast.

Once everyone was dressed it was time for Easter morning pictures since everyone is dressed up and hopefully looking their best.

Pink and Blue Please

On Saturday afternoon Pat wanted Priss, myself and her to go an get a manicure together. Priss was in heaven. She could barely wait for the car ride to be over, it was a mere 20 minutes across town. Priss selected pink and blue, and she wanted them in a pattern.

All Jason could say was, "Mom what have you started?"

Easter Photo Session

Once again I didn't want to fit the crowds for Easter pictures of the kids so I played photographer. It took two different nights to capture the pictures I wanted. One the second evening Swee helped by arranging the chair and the blankets on the furniture. He was trying so hard to be helpful and he really was. Priss just wanted to create what she thought was the perfect pose. Here is what we ended up with...

Happy Easter from the Slopsemas!

Another "Bites" the Dust

This morning as we were having breakfast Priss informed me that her loose tooth was hurting. When I peered into her month I notice two white marks in her mouth. One where her missing tooth was and the other behind her current loose tooth. Realizing that her permanent teeth were coming in I decided that her second loose tooth had to come out before it caused more damage to the placement of her permanent teeth. Between Priss and myself we were able to get it out. Two teeth missing in under 2 weeks.

She sure is growing up!

Two Days Apart

Last Saturday it was nice enough for Jason to mow the yard with Swee's assistance and on Monday it was snowing! Can you believe? I scarcely can!

27 years

This is a belated birthday wish to my baby sister, aka Weed. She turned 27 on Thursday. Both kids called and sang Happy Birthday to Aunt Weed. It is hard to believe that my baby sister is this old and in just over a month will be becoming a mommy herself. I can't wait to see you and see my newest nephew.

Love you Weedie!

Crazy Hair Day

Priss's school had a crazy hair day. For the kids to participate they had to donate a dollar which would go to Riley Children's Hospital. Priss selected this hair style...
