Grandpa David Turned 63

On Wednesday the kids and I drove to Muncie to spend the afternoon with my Dad on his birthday. We went the Concannon's to get their fabulous chocolate creme filled cupcakes and then it was off to Dad's. Emerson wanted to sing to him as soon as we arrived but was persuaded to wait until Erica and her kids arrived. We all enjoyed our visit and the kids loved exploring around Grandpa David's house.

Thanks for the memories you created with us on your birthday Dad! Happy 63rd Birthday!

He PASSED!

Jason received his scores for the Administrative Licensing Exam that he took last month & HE PASSED! He passed with flying colors scoring a 193 when he only needed a 165 to be licensed in the state of Indiana. In fact, his score allowed him to pass in all the states that require a standardized test for their administrators. I am so proud of him and relieved that it is all over. Now there is only 1 class looming this summer that needs passed. Cross your fingers along with us about job interviews and the final class.

Way to go Jason!

V-day Tradition

Since we moved to southeastern Indiana, Batesville & Greensburg, a tradition has begun on Valentine's Day. A balloon, homemade sugar cookies & a V-day picture is taken to Jason at work. Yesterday the kids and I got ready and headed out for Batesville to make our yearly delivery. We also took some cookies to the people in the front office to thank them for all the help that they have given Jason during his internship this year.

When we arrived at Jason's room & he wasn't there but managed to get there before we could all hide to surprise him. He expected us but wasn't sure what time we would be there. The kids were so excited to see him and to give him some of his V-day gifts.

Along with taking him cookies I made some extras to give to the girls' basketball team to say thanks for a great year. Emerson loved getting to find the girls in the lunchroom and give them their cookies. After all the girls were found we left so that Jason could go about his day and we could get some lunch.

After the chaos of the day was over we exchanged our Valentine's Day gifts as a family. Jason got me a movie and some of my favorite candies. He received a tie, candy, a paperweight with the kids & my picture in it & book about why boys need their dads. Emerson and Sawyer each received a balloon, candy and a V-day book.

I enjoy Valentine's Day but enjoy feeling loved the rest of the year more! WE hope everyone experienced the feeling of being loved yesterday, we sure did!

Short or Long?

Tuesday I had scheduled a hair appointment for Emerson and me. I needed a trim and Emerson was truly in need of a hair cut. My plan was to get Emerson's hair trimmed a couple of inches so that the ends wouldn't tangle together so badly. Right before we left she informed me that she wanted her hair short like Ainsley's. For those who don't know how short Ainsley's hair is, it barely covers her ears. Emerson and I arrived at the salon and she went first. I said how would you like your hair cut and she replied like Ainsley's. We ended up deciding to do an inverted bob that came to her shoulders. As soon as the first couple of snips were taken Emerson announced that she thought she would like long hair! A little too late but she did end up with an ADORABLE hair cut.

When we got home she had Jason close his eyes and she twirled around the room yelling for him to look. She kept saying don't you love it, Daddy!

It is Over!

Last night was the conclusion of the BEST girls' basketball season in 4 years. Batesville got the bye in the Sectional tournament and they played Greensburg. The game was one of the closer ones played this season and at times it was a one point game. Greensburg lead at the end of the first quarter by 2 points and at the end of the first half we were down 4. This was great since in the beginning of the first quarter Greeensburg was leading by 7 or 8 points.

The second half began and the game turned into a back and forth contest with Batesville taking the lead. Somehow Greensburg was able to get some timeouts called in their favor when another call should have been made in Batesville's favor. As the final minutes and seconds ticked off the clock Batesville was unable to overcome the point deficit that Greensburg had produced. We ended up losing a very hard fought game and a game that very easily could have been ours.

I am saddened to see the season close like it did, and even more melancholy about it maybe being Jason's last as a Varisty coach. Coaching is very much one of Jason's passions and it is a passion that the kids and I enjoy with him. It will be odd to attend a game and not see Jason sitting on the bench or up yelling out some play. It all depends on what the Lord has in store for us over the next few months.

I Blinked!

Today my little, tiny girl is not so little or tiny anymore she is growing up into a GIRL. Emerson is 4 1/2 years old today and I am not sure where the time went. We recently came across some home movies of her when she was just a couple months old. She has loved watching her first Christmas, first Florida trip, first birthday and many other firsts. I can't believe all that she has already accomplished in her short little life. Over the past six months she has grown and developed into someone that I am very proud to call my Daughter! We are eagerly awaiting the other firsts in her life that we will get to be a part of...first dance recital, first day of kindergarten, etc.

For Emerson's 1/2 birthday this year I asked her preschool teachers if we could celebrate by bringing in cupcakes. Sawyer and I took cupcakes in during snack time. It was so neat to watch Emerson at school and to listen to her talk to her classmates about who we were. She was so proud to have Sawyer there and thought everything he did was funny. While the kids were eating their cupcakes I was able to get a picture of the class with Sawyer in the front row.

Happy Half Birthday, Prissy!
