The Bump

Mom requested a picture of "the bump" so here it is....

32 Years

We celebrated my birthday yesterday since Jason and Priss had to go to school today. The kids had went shopping with Jason and were so excited to give me their presents. Priss got me 2 Strawberry Shortcake dolls and Swee got me 2 cars that have sirens. From Jason I received some lotions from Bath and Body Works along with several bottles of their soap.

One of the highlights of the evening was Jason made our traditional birthday brownies but added a little too much water (the directions called to 1/4 cup and he added 1 1/2 cups) so they ended up looking something like a chocolate custard. Taste wise they left a lot to be desired. I had to take a picture and did warn him I would be posting it and blogging about it.

Shin Guards Required

Swee and I enjoyed supporting Priss and Jason in their opening soccer game of the fall season. Jason is her coach and biggest cheerleader when she got the ball today. In fact, at the conclusion of the game when it was just us he informed her that she scored as many goals as the number on her jersey, 3. Not that he was keeping track but she is the oldest player on her team so that seems to help out some. She loves having Jason as her coach and Swee keeps telling Jason that he is ready for him to be his coach too. I don't know if Jason could handle coaching Swee but hopefully he will give it a try at least once.

Rivalry

Is it bad that when Spirit Day is occurring at your first grader's school that she wants to wear a t-shirt from a rival school? This is just what Priss did today. It just so happened to be Spirit Day at school and so I suggested she wear her only school t-shirt. She very quickly informed me that her school wasn't her favorite team but that Jason's was, and she had plenty of t-shirts from there. Needless to say, she walked out of the house in a Bulldog t-shirt (Jason's team) instead of a Pirate one (her school). I hope she doesn't experience any teasing because of her choice.

Saying Good-bye Again

This past weekend we helped Jason's parents pack their moving truck. Final destination Leicester, NC. It was so bittersweet to drive away from their home this last time. It is the only home they have lived in while Jason and I have been married, the only home the kids know as Grandma and Grandpa's and his parents' dream home. Due to a new job last fall they had to move to be within Ed's work boundaries. They have a lovely home in North Carolina and we are very excited to see it.

Craziness

Have you ever had a day where it boils down to just pure craziness? Well, today was mine. Swee and I trucked off the 1 1/2 hours to my doctor's appointment after dropping Priss off at school. All went fine except that he managed to wear the banana he was snacking on...no big deal I had an extra outfit. The appointment went fine. Following the appointment we headed back to pick Priss up from school. Swee fell asleep which was great, however, when he woke up he informed me that his seat was all wet. Yes, his bladder let go while he was sleeping. As we sat in the parking lot of Priss's school I stripped his car seat, had him climb into the front seat so that I could change him and tried to field a phone call. As I was on the phone he informed me that he had to potty. We are in a parking lot surrounded by people sitting in their cars waiting to pick their children up. I quickly reach for a storage container that is in the diaper bad and he stands in the front seat using the container as a toilet. Now I ask you what do you do with the contents of said container? I simply dumped it out in the parking lot adjacent to the soccer field once Priss was in the car. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or proud of my ingenuity! Thankfully at this time the craziness seems to be taking a hiatus.

Get Your Tap Shoes Ready

Once again the start of school also found us back in tap class. This year's class only has 5 girls who seem to range in age from 5-8 or 9. Priss was very excited for tap to begin since she had gotten her new tap shoes last week. The teacher said this year there is no singing just a lot of tapping. Can't wait to see what the routine is.

First Grade Finally

Dressed and ready with her backpack and lunch box

Off she went without any reservations this morning. She was a sleepy head so Swee had the pleasure of waking her. Once awake she bounded out of bed and promptly got dressed, had her hair done and ate breakfast. I packed her lunch, included a note and snapped some pictures of her and Swee and we were off.

I was amazed at the line of cars when we turned onto the street the school sits off of. We found a parking place and joined the hoards of parents and students looking for their classrooms.
Priss and Mrs. Meyer
Priss's teacher was waiting at the door and greeted her by name. She said she remembered her from helping out with PTO last year. Priss unpacked her backpack and found her desk, gave Swee and me smooches, and was ready for her day to begin. I was a little teary eyed to think that she would be in school everyday this year. For the next couple of weeks it will just be Swee and me. I think he is looking forward to it...so am I.

Ready to learn

Really 6!

Our Priss celebrated her 6th birthday today. We actually celebrated her birthday family style yesterday since she informed me that we always do birthdays over two days and she didn't think it was right that we were going to celebrate with both her party and family celebration on the same day. Yesterday she woke up to her birthday sign and presents waiting for her. She loved it! We had our traditional birthday brownies as dessert following dinner. This morning she woke up and we got ready to party.

A lot of wonderful people came to celebrate with us and many others were sorely missed. The kids had a blast with the water balloons and the water blasters that were supplied following lunch, cake and ice cream. The comical part was when the adults managed to get blasted by the kids. Thankfully it was extremely hot out so the moms, grandmas and aunts weren't too upset.

Thanks to everyone who was able to come we appreciate you taking time to be with us today.

Same Ol Same

Nothing much has changed since that last post other than we are down to under 5 weeks due to being a scheduled induction. Priss is getting excited for school to begin...better said to know who her teacher is for this year. Swee has embraced being a middle child and all that that entails at the moment. I think he is getting some practice in so he knows just what he needs to do once the baby gets here. Jason is patiently waiting to see what comes about with this school year. He just found out last Thursday that his principal left to be the assistant super in the school district we live in leaving a void at Jason's school. The position was opened for applications but just in house for now. School begins in under a week here and as of now there is no principal. Jason would be interested in the assistant principal position should it open up due to reshuffling but he somewhat doubts that will occur. As for me I continue to drive my hour and a half one way to see my physicians twice a week. Everyone is getting pretty antsy to find out just what gender this baby is going to be. I would like to have a small clue just so I can get the laundry started instead of waiting to have my mom or mother in law do it after the baby is here. I am washing up some gown and onesis that should suffice for the first few days of the wee ones life.
